won’t save changes in iphoto

I have photoshop elements 4.0 for my mac. after editing a photo and saving it, it does not show the changes in iphoto. I want to be able to use both of these programs. I was hoping to edit photos that need a lot of work in photoshop and use iphoto for organizing and burning to cd’s. I have spent hours trying to figure out why all my changes are being saved in photoshop and not showing in iphoto.

Please someone shed some light on this for me.

the regulars here don’t use either app.
