Can’t install Photoshop CS Trial …

Hi,

I just downloaded the Photoshop CS trial and I got the "Unable to continue…hardware or system error" error when I tried to run it for the first time. I have seen that other people have had similar troubles. The problem is, the first thing I did when I got this error was to try to uninstall/reinstall, but now when I try to reinstall the trial it says that it has expired and I am not able to use it.

I’ve tried everything I can think of to get this to work.

It’s really frustrating. Is there anyway to "reset" the trial expire thing? Or am I out of luck …

I don’t know why you had the trouble you had, but unless you’re willing to format your harddrive, you’re out of luck.

Is there no way to reset a registry entry or something instead of reformating? There must be a flag or something somewhere on my machine that was set or something, no? I didn’t even get to try the software.

nope.

if there is no one’s ever mentioned it here and adobe’s not telling. their official line is reformat.

I’m not sure that reformat is an official line. It is just something that we here "know" will work. Nothing else seems to (although I have no doubt Adobe engineers know a way around it).

Well it goes without saying that reformating my HD would be a hassel. But so would forking out a wad of cash for some software that may or may not be something I am looking for.

If anyone has any suggestions, I’d love to hear them!

I’ve tried deleting any "adobe" entries in my registry. No luck there. It must be hidden in a obscure place. Security by obscurity works occassionally I guess.

And I won’t get to try this software.

I believe Adobe offers your money back within 30 days.

Seems you are right. I guess since they are so good at making sure you can’t use the software they make, there is little risk of them not refunding the money? Most software can’t be returned once it has been opened due to piracy concerns.

I’d want to make sure I know what is involved before I purchase. It’s a decent sum of money to hand out if you are going to be asking for it back in a few weeks.

Does anyone have any experience with this 30 day money back thing?

Just note that the garantee is only good when you purchase directly from Adobe.

Have you thought about elements? does much of what photoshop does for a much cheaper price. Also, what bob said about the 30 day refund, you need to purchase from the adobe online store. (I did with v7, they’re fast and nice to work with). I got CS from Amazon. No complaints with either.
