Layers Window Won’t Stay Open

Recently, my layers window stopped acting normally. First of all, it extends off the bottm of the screen, so I can’t resize it. Sexondly, i seem to recall the normal Min,Max,Close buttons in the top right hand corner of the window… those are gon too. But perhaps the most annoying of all is the fact that the layers window will no longer stay open. I can open it from Window > Layers, but after that, if I so much as touch ANYWHERE outside the layers window – it closes. Any idea how to solve any or all of these problems? -James p.s.
