Multi-monitor annoyances in with PS CS2

Hello all,

I apologise in advance if this question has been answered before. I searched through the forums but came up empty.

I have a multi-monitor setup (three 19") and I like to have Photoshop open on the monitor to my right. This monitor is setup in Windows as monitor number two.

I maximise the program on my right monitor and everything is fine. The problem is that whenever I open any kind of dialog box it always pops up on my middle monitor (where I normally have a browser open). I thought I could put up with this at first but now it drives me crazy. Is there some way to make to dialog boxes open on the same screen that Photoshop is on? Or will I simply have to keep Photoshop on my main screen?

While there are no settings in Photoshop to control dialog placement, your graphics card driver may have such settings. I know that nVidia provides options to place new dialog windows on the default monitor, a specified monitor, or the monitor where the cursor is at. Of course, that would globally affect all applications you use.

Another thing to be aware of, if you aren’t, is that Photoshop uses the color space of the primary monitor when rendering colors to your screen. That is my understanding at least. So, if you edit your images on Monitor 2, you should ensure that monitor is defined as your primary monitor in the Display Properties dialog. If you edit your images on another monitor and just use Monitor 2 for your palettes and the application window, then I believe you need to set the image editing monitor as your primary monitor. (Someone please correct me if I’m mistaken on this.)
