I use Photoshop Elements 2.0.2 on the MacOS 10.3.3 platform. So far so good, but when I save a PNG-24 with transparency, it looks ok on any Mac-browser (Safari, Camino, IE5, Mozilla) but checking it on a Windows box (IE5 and Avant), instead of transparency I get a grey background.

The strange bit is this: when someone saves the file on a Windows box, the transparency is ok on both machines.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? I use this feature very often, so it’s paramount that I find a solution.

Try IE6, I don’t think IE5 supported .PNG.

Have A Nice Day, 🙂

PNG 24 transparency never has been, and is still not supported on MS Internet Explorer. Always gives a gray background. Regardless of what platform it is saved on initially. PNG 8 will do transparency, but is essentially same as GIF in quality and color limitation.

See recent threads here about complicated coding workarounds.
