I have a few hundred images that was sent out to a service bureau to have silhouetted and saved as 8 bit png files. Lo and behold, in IE6 some of the images rendered with a background and others did not. The only difference that I can see is that when I open the files, some of them are RGB and some are indexed color.
It’s the RGB files that are not showing properly in IE 6. Maybe it is a misunderstanding on my part but, everytime I save amn 8 bit png – the file reverts to index color. I do not even know how to save an 8 bit png as RGB.
Can anyone tell me how this is done, so I can explain to those at the service bureau what they are doing wrong? And can anyone explain why the RGB items do not display properly? I thought there were only problems with 24 bit pngs.
Thanks!
