I’ve noticed recently when printing to our network printer from Photoshop 7 (as well as other programs), the file size on the printer is MUCH larger and therefore takes MUCH longer to print.

An example of this is we sent a flattened file from PS that was 17.8 megs to the printer and when we checked the printer queue it was listed as 66.2 megs!

What causes this and how can we fix it? Files seem to be taking MUCH longer to print than they should because of this.

THANKS!

The file that goes to the printer queue is not the original file – rather it is the file after being processed by the print driver. In other words it is the raw instructions that instruct the printer to create the print – hence it is larger. Nothing you can do about it.
