expanding the current document to full page loses all menus and panels

This is really odd for CS4. It doesn’t happen with CS3. The problem is that when I expand the document window in the client area of the user interface, the window expands completely to cover the whole screen, including the surrounding panels, menus, etc. The only thing shown is the full document window. I’m not sure if this is something that can be configured in the preferences or not. I’ve tried all the interface settings and nothing works. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Never mind….solved the problem by using the full screen mode with the menu bar option, which is a pull down option for the full screen menu button.
