I’m using cs2.

When I’m using gradient tool in a 16bit image the dither button has almost no effect (there’s SOME dither.. like 0.01% which don’t remove banding at all).

BUT in 8 bit it works 100%.

Why is it like this, how to do it?

in a 16 bit image, it is dithered at the least significant bit – just like in 8 bit. But that’s 1/32769 instead of 1/256, so it is less visible.

If you want to add noise to reduce banding – add noise suitable for your output.
