Scanning Changes Size Of Photo

I’m trying to scan an 8×10 photo so that I can edited it in Elements and output a 5×7. Trouble is, my scanning changes the size of the photo and what I end up with is 8×9.25, resulting in a 5×6.25. I could crop it in Elements so that it’s exactly 5×7, but thought I’d check here first to see if there’s something else I can do. Any help would be appreciated.

If the ratio is different, cropping is the only option. Just do the maths: 8/5=1.6 10/1.6=6.26 …
