Advanced PSD repair? (corrupt .psd file repair?)

I have a psd file that somehow got messed up and photoshop wont open it. I can view it in Adobe Bridge but some of the data is corrupted or something. The file wont copy onto a new drive so I cant back it up. I tried a program called "Advanced PSD repair", and the trial version was able to find the layers and make bitmaps out of them (with watermark). But this costs 150 dollars to buy the actual program.
So I am wondering if there is a better or cheaper meathod I dont know about.

Irfanview may be able to do something for you.

I’d try ImageReady if possible.

Irfanview won’t open layered files. It pretends to open a psd but all it does is open the flattened preview is one is saved with the file.

Another possibility is Photoline32, but if the file is corrupted, the file is corrupted.

As for the "Advanced PSD repair" software think of it this way: What’s cheaper, recreating the file or buying a licence?

If it works, Adobe should include it on the CD as a free utility (given the price of CS2…)

If Adobe owns it. Otherwise they would have to license it from the programmers who do, and that would have to be added to the cost of PS.

I have a tool, psdparse, <http://telegraphics.com.au/sw/#psdparse> for extracting PNG files from Photoshop PSDs. I would suggest you give it a try (it’s designed to be robust with corrupt files. Too corrupt and it will give up, though.)
