Hi everyone,

Is it possible to edit a filter that has already been applied on a layer? I mean like the Effect Controls in AE and Premiere. If not, is there a workaround? Thanks a lot in advance!

Nope, not possible. That is one of the good reasons for layers. If you just applied the filter, there’s a possibility of immediately undoing it (ctrl-z), or manipulating before / after states via the History Palette and the History Brush and / or the Fill Command.

If you flattened and saved the file, the effect is permanent. You’ll just have to go back to the original file and start again.

You did work on a copy didn’t you?

Run filters on a duplicated layer…that way if you change your mind or if you want to blend the filtered layer using blending modes and/or opacity you can. Basically if I cannot create an adjustment layer for an effect, I use a duplicate layer
