I’m running photoshop on a PC and received the same message( problem with aquistion module interface) when trying to import from my Epson CX6400 . . .this, out of nowhere, after running perfectly for several months. After reinstalling drivers and Photoshop as well the problem didn’t go away. Epson sent me a procedure for going into res edit and making changes. I haven’t tried that as yet.

I have over a gig of memory, lots of HD space, running a Mac G4 867Quicksilver and Photoshop 7.0.1.
Furthermore the scanner does work using Silverfast v 6.0.
Any help would be appreciated
