Convert RAW images to EPS or JPG – problems

Yes – I’m confused and this is the first time we’ve had to do this and we can’t find good documentation.
Received RAW images from photographer, file sizes are huge and saved as TIF, opened in Photoshop, did a "save as" JPEG and files are still huge.
How does one convert a RAW image to an EPS and/or JPEG without having a huge file size (ours have been over 1 meg)?
Is there a conversion tool for converting RAW images to JPEG or EPS? Thanks much for any help.

1 MB is not what I’d call huge. What do you intend to do with them? For Web display reduce the document dimensions. For print they shouln’t be reduced at all.

EPS is not very suitable for photos.

You don’t need a "conversion tool" for this. Just "Save As"

Are they RAW or are they TIFF? If they are RAW open them in ACR and specify the size. If they are TIFF open them and use IMAGE>SIZE to reduce them to the working size you require.

Gosh that big! My Camera Raw files open up to 15MB minimum.

What Rod said is true. and without knowing the final purpose of the files it is difficult to advise further.

OK, thanks for the help. We’ve figured it out, reducing the image height/width then doing a ‘save as’. We were just unfamiliar with the RAW image type and didn’t have much time to research it…deadlines you know.

Your images are TIFFs they will have been RAW at some time, and at c1MG they are tiny, (are you missing an order of magnitude?) the RAW file is usually the same size as the camera’s CCD e.g. a 6MPixel camera will produce a 6MB RAW file.
