Recently when I tried to use the cropping tool it creates an expandable rectangle which when dragged across the image creates a crop which is not controllable. It used to allow me to drag it down and over to crop the area I wanted. Any ideas?

On the toolbar, left hand side, is a picture of the crop tool.

Click on it, and select reset tool.

That should do it.

Bob,

I think it is quite possible that you have some dimensions entered in the fields near the top of your screen. With Elements I’m sure you are aware that you can set the crop tool to crop to a specific dimension and resolution. When you have entered these values and then you’ll only be able to crop to that specification. On the toolbar near the top of your screen you will see a Clear button. This will clear any dimensions that have been specified, and then you will be able to freely crop your image.
