selection tool problem

When selecting part of an image with the selection tool the following message will not allow the selection. This problem occurs no matter what the image is or what the background is:

‘no pixels are more than 50 percent selected. The selection edges will not be visible’

any ideas anyone?

I’ve seen this message when there is a large number of pixels in the Feather box at the top and you have selected and area less than this. You might want to check the feather setting.

I think this also occurs if you make a selection on a layer which doesn’t have any non-transparent pixels in the area where you are making the selection. This can be an issue when you are making composites. An easy way to prevent this is to turn off visibility of layers which aren’t the active layer, then it;s easy to tell if you are missing the opaque pixels with your selection.

Photo shop elements 2.0 when using tools the tool will not reset when you click reset toll nor will they reset when you click rest all toolto default. They will change from to tool but still will not reset

Leo, try deleting the Elements Preference folder. There’s a keyboard shortcut:

With Elements closed, click on the start up icon and then make a QUICK grab for the (Win) Control, Alt, and Shift keys (Mac) Command, Option, and Shift. Hold all three done until you get a screen asking if you want to delete Settings. Say Yes. A new folder will build as Elements continues to launch.
