I am making my first attempt to profile my monitor to the ICC profiles given from Calypso for use with my iMac G5 and Adobe Lightroom (I don’t use Photoshop and if this maneuver is pointless in Lightroom, please let me know).
I understand that without special equipment (calorimeter) I wont get the best results, but I am mainly trying to move away from Ofoto, which has returned prints with purple snow, etc.
I have downloaded the profiles (.icc) and put the profile I wanted into Library/Colorsync/profiles, but do not understand how to install this profile as the color space for my monitor or for Lightroom.
I have gone to Prefs/Monitor/Color, but the .icc does not appear there, nor do I see any option of the sort: "Install New Profile."
When I go to ColorSync Utility, I see the .icc I loaded under the "Computer" pull down, but not under the monitor pulldown.
I see no options in Lightroom to load a color space.
I may be totally missing the point of calibration, but my understanding is that I need to use an .icc provided by the company I will be printing with to modify my "neutral" monitor settings to reflect as closely as possible the settings at the printer. Furthermore, a color change within Lightroom may or may not be necessary.
Thanks in advance.
