View: Extras- how to not have selected upon file open

I searched and didn’t see a post on this, so I will try. How can I get rid of the Extras flag always showing when a file is opened in CS? I have never found a preference to turn it off, so I always have to go up to the menu bar and select "View/Extras" and deselect it.
