I am stacking multiple digital long exposure images, and somehow I’d like to be able to average them all with a full dynamic range. Screen mode layer blending doesn’t quite do that. For example, think of 10 identical images (layers. When I average them all, I still have the same image. With screen mode, I have a bright clipped mess. If I reduce the brightness of all 10 images to 1/10th then I won’t get clipping of the whites, but I lose all sorts of low end information. There are some programs out there to do this, but they don’t allow for re-registration of the images.
The answer is probably right in front of my face, but you know how it goes with photoshop.
Thanks,
me
