I’m having some problems understanding how to modify the transparency in a layer.
I have one layer that’s to serve as a background. I have another that contains an object to be composited — processed using Extract — with some parts totally transparent and some partially. I originally assumed that would be done via an alpha channel, but "Channels" only shows me RGB. (?)
I would now like to fine-tune the opacity of portions of the object. I’m assuming that the best way to do that would be to have a layer mask to edit…. What I don’t get is how to access/convert the current transparency of a layer into such an editable form.
(Painter 8 has a Create Layer Mask From Transparency option and I’m guessing I just haven’t found the Photoshop equivalent.)
Thanks in advance.
