Hello, I was wondering if ps7 is able to do seamless tiles, what I mean by that is..can you take a small jpeg pattern tile and seamlessly tile it across the page, to do outlook stationery and/or background papers? Bit new to all this, so I apologise if I’m using all the wrong lingo, lol Thanks in advance 🙂

Yes, this is a standard technique that is normally done using a combination of the Offset filter and the clone tool or healing brush.

No problems from here – opens fine. Try opening http://www.myjanee.com and then working your way to the tiling tutorials. There are two of them.

Hi there,

Open your jpeg pattern and then select "Edit/Define Pattern", give the pattern a name and press OK.

Now open the document you want to apply the tile to, and Select "Edit/Fill". In the Fill dialog, select "Pattern" from the "Use" drop down list. Now select the pattern tile you just created from the "Custom Pattern" drop down list.

Your image will be filled with your pattern.

Hope this helps.

that’s useful info
I used to make pattern repeats by hand for textile companies to print patterns. The repeat size was pegged to the size of the print roller (after each run the pattern would be shaved off leaving a smaller roller for the next print)
Often wondered how to do that in PS.
We used to have to mix colors (Doc Martin dyes) to match actual fabric swatches too, and we used a specific waxy tracing paper to paint with the fabric below it for the design, my job was to make it into 3-4 different color ways with similar values in each place.
so much about how we work as artists has changed……
