One of our users is getting this error message and her filters are unavailable. She restarted PS, rebooted the system, activated Bigger Tiles plug-in, soft installed to repair and still has the problem.

Has anyone else come across this problem and if so, what was the solution. Thanks. Bob Napack

How much RAM & virtual memory does she have and are the Photoshop mem settings correct in the system setup? I always use the bigger tiles option and have never had a problem.

The Dell Optiplex 745 running Windows XP has two drives with 23 GB free on the first scratch disk and 36 GB free on the 2nd. It has 2 GB of ram alloted to 85% with the cache set to 8.

I’ve only set the bigger tiles switch since installing 4 gigs of RAM, so do not have the same experience. However, the filters require contiguous available RAM- so their unavailability would certainly be indictative of a RAM shortage.

I’m assuming that the VM system settings are optimized.

I’d reduce the amount of memory allocated to Photoshop to the default 55% and reduce the cache level to 2. If that solves the problem, adjust upwards from there.
