OK, I’m starting to just now scratch the surface of what’s going on with PS, at lweast enough to ask some more intelligent (I hope) questions.
Scott Kelby, in his initial instructions for newbies on how to color correct, asks us to set the values in the curves preferences so that we can essentially assign these values to the highlights and shadows. The values he uses are 140 and 20 respectively. He says these values are good because they retain detail in the shadows and don’t wash out the highlights, which is good for printing on a press.
My question is, if I want good contrast, and I am printing on a laserjet, don’t I want these values to be 0 and 255 respectively?
