Hi all…just got PS7 and working my way around…had 6 before, and I liked the idea of the file browser. However, it hangs everytime I open FB…I know it needs a little time to save to the cache etc, but it s useless if it needs an hour to open a folder with 80 medium sized jpegs in it! Even after an hour, its still ‘getting file directories’, and then you click elsewhere in the screen, and you get the ‘program not responding ‘ message. Is there a limit to the number of files it cna handle? Or could it be a corrupted file that its not seeing? I have 512MB ram and a big disc with lots of space. The jpegs are only between 5 and 15 MB each…also, once its read the files (if it ever does), will it keep them in the cache for next time? and what does ‘purge cache’ mean? could it be that the cache is clogged up? as ever, thanks in advance…Mark

If there is, it’s at least several hundred.

Or could it be a corrupted
file that its not seeing? I have 512MB ram and a big disc with lots of space. The jpegs are only between 5 and 15 MB each…

That should take only a few seconds. If you had 80 tif files of 100MB each, then it might take a few minutes.

also, once its read the files (if it ever does), will it keep them in the
cache
for next time?

Yes.

and what does ‘purge cache’ mean?

Delete everything in the cache. You probably don’t want to do that.

could it be that the cache is clogged up?

Unlikely.

Have you defragmented the disk lately? Do you have any other applications running at the same time? Have you scanned for viruses and trojans?

Have you installed the 7.01 update?
