If I apply a style to a layer how do I retain the layer style and just have an image.

Try a screen capture – hit "alt-prtscrn" when your image is up, and then you can paste it into MS Paint or PSP from there …

Are you saying you just want to have a single layer? if so flatten the image; Layer > Flatten Image

put an empty layer underneath it and merge down

sorry kelly…once you merge, even just two layers, you lose the layer styles.

I could be wrong…someone point it out if i am
