I’ve noticed that if a layer contains a mask and a Layer Comp is created for the work including it to date, the Layer Comp preceding it takes on the appearance of the new comp rather than showing the work pre mask.

The way around it I’ve found, is to save the work pre mask as Layer Comp 1 (for example), duplicate the layer to which the mask is to be applied, apply the mask, apply the effect to the mask, toggle the original layer invisible and save the work to date as Layer Comp 2! That way 2 different comps are saved as it should be.

I’ve checked the documentation as best I can and can’t see a rationale for this need. Is it a bug?

I would have expected the task to simply be: Create layers – save as Layer Comp 1, select a layer – apply mask – apply effect – save as Layer Comp 2. It just isn’t working out this way.

I haven’t tested the task with Version Cue yet btw!

Thanks,
Adam.
