I have a set of images. Some are landscape, some are portrait. I want to run a batch function that will do the following:
1) Resize so that the largest dimension is, say, 520.
2) Set background to black
3) Increase canvas size so that both width and height are increased by 4 pixels
4) Drop shadow the image (which means first I copy and paste the image into a new layer with dimensions 35 pixels larger for both width and height on a white background
5) Save it, etc.
In setting up my action, I am unsure how to handle the unknowns created by the fact that a particular image might be landscape or portrait. In steps 1, 3, and 4, if I know that the image is landscape, then I can set width to 520 and make all other size adjustments based on this without problem (though even here, setting the canvas height is unclear – i.e. I would like to be able simply to set it at current height + 4, but instead I must specify the exact height). Is there any way to handle the action so that it takes the largest dimension and resizes to 520, then increases canvas size so that both width and height increase by 4, etc.?
