What’s goin’ on? I’m workin’ with Windows XP and Photoshop 7. I’m tryin’ to crop an image to a width of 800 pixels and 600 pixels in height. However, A value between 0.014 inches & 416.667 inches is required, closest value inserted is the response. Is 800 pixels in width and 600 pixels in height the same as an aspect ratio of 3X4?

You don’t mention how you are trying to specify the crop size, so I’ll make an assumption:

If you’re using the marque tool to select the area, and are specifying the dimensions in the options bar, make sure you are inputing "800px" and "600px" – the px bit specifies pixels. You can then create the selection, move it around if necessary, then Image|Crop.

I don’t use the crop tool (I use the method above), so I don’t know if the same applies …

And yes, 800 by 600 is a 4:3 ratio.

MJMBX, Just for your information,aspect ratio is simply dividing the big number by the smaller number. In your case, 4 x 3 is a 1.33 to
one aspect ratio. 6 x 4 is a ratio of 1.5 to one. 10 x 8 is a ratio of 1.25 to one. And so on. The same ratio is used for digital photos. Just divide the pixel dimensions to get the aspect ratio of your photo.

Of course, Photoshop can resize your photos but you must be careful of the aspect ratio or else you might get a photo of Gramdma with her face stretched or Uncle Ernie with his face really out of proportion!
