No, the source point is only visible when you are cloning (when the mouse button is down).
Of course, you do set the source point (by alt/option clicking) yourself….

My clone stamp tool unpredictably changes from a circle to a ‘dot/cross-hair’. Can anyone help or do you need more info? Thanks!

I’ve tried for several hours but cannot use the clone stamp tool accurately. I have a picture of a person holding up an award plaque; however, you cannot read the wording on the plaque. I have another picture of the same plaque. I have tried to clone the clear picture of the other plaque onto the person holding the plaque that is not clear. My problem is that I cannot get it to fit properly,i.e. it is too large. Any suggestions or is this something that can’t be done. Thanks in advance.
Allen,
Another approach: make a selection of the readable wording and Copy that.
Next paste that approximately over the plaque. then again select the wording (it should be on a layer above the plaque now) and go to Edit > Transform.
Use the various available transform modes to shape the wording so as to match the plaque.

Thanks for the tip. I’ve tried it and have almost got it to work. Still too large but I have the concept. If I can’t do it I’ll post again. Thanks.
