I recently bought an iMac and PS Elements 3.0. (I made "The Switch"). On the PSE package was the text "Works with iPhoto". I was wondering if anyone here knows what is meant by that statement? It doesn’t seem to recognize iPhoto albums, or libraries, or its metadata that it uses to organize its photos (at least as far as I can tell). I would like to be able to use iPhoto’s organization with PSE’s editing ability, but I don’t have a good idea how to do this effectively yet. Anyone care to share their workflow with me for this same type of set-up?

Congrats on the iMac!
I use Image Capture to download photos from the camera.
It’s in Applications.
I specify in Image Capture prefs. to place the photos in a folder on the desktop. I will then open the folder in Photoshop.
I look at the images, do whatever, then exit Photoshop.

To store the images, I then drag them from the folder to the appropriate album in iPhoto.

An alternative is to have iPhoto open when you connect a camera. Then set iPhoto prefs to open an image in PSE when double clicked.

When you Save in this situation( from PSE ) the edited photo appears back in iPhoto.
