Ok, whenever I make a custom shape (a speech bubble, to be specific), and add a 2px stroke to it, the stroke is rather pixelated and ugly. As a comic maker, I sorta need the stroke to be smooth. How would I go about doing that? I am using Elements 2.0

You have something 2 pixels wide and you wonder why it looks pixelated? Surely you’ve answered your own question …
Sounds like you are working at too low a resolution.
Are your comics for screen for print?

Jeff,
I tried making a 2px speech bubble and it looks OK to me. Describe the steps you are taking. Mark

Ok, I place the custom shape onto the document. I then simplify the layer, and add a 2px black stroke around it. This is the result:

Jeff …

What is it like when you view it at 100% … sometimes if you view things at other percentages (both higher and lower) it can appear pixelated.

That is what it’s like at 100%, Wendy.

Jeff …

What resolution is your image?

I’ve tried the default 72 pixels/inch, then 100, then 200, but the strokes are still pixelated.
