Richard, thanks for your note. The files were created in KaleidaGraph 3.6 (OS X native) and were saved in either EPS or PS format. When opened in Elements 2.0, only the checkered background appears.
There is only one layer; the image is a simple graph.
The Elements prefs were copied from a Mac with the same setup — a Mac that doesn’t have this problem — and that did not help.
This problem doesn’t exist under Classic 9, just under OS X 10.3.8.
