Trouble running filters

Hi, I’m having trouble running certain filters like lighting effects, and spherize with larger files. The selection is just grayed out so I can’t even select the filter. I’m not sure what the problem is. I’m running a G4 MDD 1.25GHZ with 2GB RAM. Yesterday if I lowered the file size i thought it fixed the problem but today that doesnt work so maybe it’s something else.

What version of PS?

Some filters only run in RGB mode and others don’t work in 16-bit mode.

Could that be the problem?

CS2. I converted to RGB and that fixed the problem. Thanks!
