hello,

i’m not having any luck saving images with a transparent background in PSE2. here’s how i go about it:

* load up image with transparent background (transparent bit appears with default checkerboard pattern, so i know it’s transparent)
* click ‘save for web’
* select ‘gif’
* make sure ‘transparent’ is checked on
* select matte: none

and the image just ends up displaying with a white background.

i’ve also tried setting the transparent layer to a color not in the image like purple, then setting matte to the eyedropper color purple, but then my image just shows up with a purple background.

what might i be doing wrong?

thank you

when you first bring the image into Elements does the palette say it’s a ‘background’ layer ? If so, double click that layer to make it a ‘layer’ and proceed to checkout…i mean save for web…the same way you were doing it.
