editable type

I am running a G4 with photoshop CS and am having a problem editing my type. When I create a calendar template for the days of the month and try to change the font I cant seem to select my saved file and change the font or size. I try to highlight and make the change but wind up with a new layer and the edit doesnt work. How can I select my type to make changes? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks Chuck

Double-click on the T in the Layers Palette for that particular layer. It should highlight and then you can place your cursor.

Under ordinary circumstances, Photoshop is a very poor or inefficient choice for setting type for a calendar (or any other extensive typesetting). A page layout app would be a far better bet.
