save a bmp in photoshop 7, open in photoshop 6 destroys it

I converted some files to bitmaps, using ps 7, but when they are opened in ps 6, they are all mush.

I selected threshold method.

ideas?

What do you mean by "mush"?

You are aware that Bitmap mode in Phostoshop is not the same as .bmp?

Is the Photoshop 6 user looking at them at 100% of size?

What resolution did you choose when converting?

Also, see if Diffusion Dither would work better for your purposes. You can clean-up with white and black paint.
