I’ve recently upgraded to CS on Windows XP. The SAVE AS menu does not include .BMP or .JPEG as options. Only .TIFF and the several Photoshop file options are listed. I do know that the .BMP file is in the plug in folder.

Will appreciate an explanation of this problem and suggested steps to make these file saving options available.

Thanks,
Larry

Larry,

Maybe the file you are trying to save is in 16-bit mode. convert to 8-bit, and see what it has now. Rob

Rob,

That solves the problem. Thank you!

I’ve been using an editing program called Picture Window Pro for a couple of years and the 16 to 8 bit conversion apparently occurs automatically when appropriate for the type file to be saved. That has been a fine program to use as a photographer, although I’m pleased with my decision to learn and use Photoshop; its just that …. Aaaaaahhh, how much I yet have to learn!
