I run elements 2.0 under WinXP. A problem showed up recently in that after I have scanned an image with my Nikon scanner and imported it into PS the color is great, matches the slide. But after I go thru print set up the preview window always shows a marked color shift to more magenta and the print comes out with too much magenta. Any ideas.

Ellis,
1. The preview window is actually not color managed, it’s more for showing you how the image will arrange on the page. A color discrepency there would be no surprise.

2. The magenta shift in the final print is another thing altogether <G> . Since this is a recent phenomenon, I’d check the print setting under "print with preview" to make sure the output space profile makes sense for your printing environment. I’d also consider recalibrating and reprofiling your display with Adobe Gamma, or another such utility. The profile may be changed or corrupted. A good tutorial on the Adobe Gamma is at <http://www.computer-darkroom.com/ps7-colour/ps7_2.htm> and a tutorial that shows the Elements/Photoshop print settings at < http://www.computer-darkroom.com/ps7_print/ps7_print_mac_2.h tm> .

3. There is always the possiblity of a clogged inkjet nozzle causing the print to shift to magenta, perhaps a partially block cyan would do that . Something to check out, anyway. Let us know how it goes, and some other ideas may flow in.
