Proofing a DCS2 file

One bad thing about DCS (Desktop Color Separations) is that it is only for a separated work flow. For a rough composite proof you can save the DCS with a color composite preview and print that.

One of the easiest methods is to create 2 files. A cmyk file for composite proofs only and the dcs2 file for the printer. Just substitute the dcs2 image back before sending off to printer.
