When I try replacing black or white with another color nothing happens. what am I doing wrong? It works with other colors.

Color replacement doesn’t work with any "neutral color" — black, white or gray. It needs a "real color" in order to be able to replace it with another color. You aren’t doing anything wrong, that’s just the way the function works.
