Speeding up Photoshop open

I am running Windows XP home on a 2.4 ghz machine with 512 of memory. Photoshop CS is taking forever to open (the application- not photos after I it is open). Is there something I can do to speed it up?

One way is to remove/deactivate plug-ins and fonts that you don’t really need (if there are any).

The only thing we know that takes a huge amount of time is AutoFX Photgraphic Edges – they have an update that should fix the problem.

I did check the faq and tried a couple of things – didn’t seem to make much differnce.
