I am using a Mac OS 10 with Photoshop 7. I’ve scanned slides using a Nikon scanner. When I attempt to save the image in Photoshop, I am given only three file formats from which to select. I don’t understand why this is the case. The formats I have to choose from include PSD, TIFF and RAW. Before now, and in other files I open in Photoshop, I am given a long list of file format options.

I’m highly unfamiliar with Photoshop. Can someone shed some light on whether this is a Photoshop issue or whether it is how the slide was scanned?

Thanks.

Amy,

Ed has the answer for you. Those are the only three formats that support 16-bit images. If you have to use a different file format, convert your images to 8-bit mode first.
