Folks,

Anyone missing the JPEG file option …. while in Photoshop, using the File>Save As option. I do not have this option available to me … any thoughts?

You are the man … I was contemplating a reinstall of the suite CS2 ….. but I was in 16 bit and when I changed to 8bit mode .. the jpeg option is available.

Question to continue to increase my knowledge of Photoshop CS2 …. you can save jpeg in 16 bit if you do it from the raw file editor utility within Photoshop … why doesn’t it show up in the file>save as … while in 16bit … thanks

😉

Jpegs don’t work in 16 bit. You’ll need to change to 8 bit mode.

The less bit/ching the better, I say!

Having your mode set to ‘indexed color’ or ‘lab color’ will also prevent images from being able to be saved as jpeg files.

You can manipulate a file and save it as a 16bit file and still get a JPEG …. two ways to do it …

1) In adobe bridge .. select the 16bit file go to
tools>photoshop>image processing>jpeg

2) In photoshop
choose the 16bit file go to
file>save for web>jpeg

You can have layers in the image being saved as JPEG; they will be flattened in the saved JPEG file.
