I have posted before with a problem with file Browser. For some reason I have lost the directory tree in the top left pane. All I have is an icon that for the desktop with a cross to its left. If I click on the cross or the icon PS 7 tells me "Cannot Repeat Request Because of Program Error." And that’s it.

I have un installed and reinstalled PS 7 and whilst the above problem remains I now can’t install PS 7.01 update. It gets part way through the install then tells me that PS 7 isn’t in the directory but it is!

Any offers of help? Oh, not just with the new problem but the original one too!

I am begining to wonder if Windows Explorer is corrupted?

Just to add a bit more: I checked the sticky on the 7.01 update and like it says, have reinstalled PS 7 (5 times now) still no joy!

The File Browser prob does indeed sound like possible Windows corruption.

The 7.01 failure is usually due to your serial number having been "compromised", need to call Adobe to check.

But since you have the first problem, could be a Windows problem also.

Which ver of Windows?

Win XP

I wonder if it is possible to reinstall just one Win component?

I assume you’ve tried your built in System Restore already from Admin Tools?

Beyond that, it’s pretty painless to reinstall XP with just the Repair option.

Boot from XP CD, use normal install option (not restore). Then you get option for a Repair installation.

Also, of course, before any of this, you HAVE simply tried deleting Photoshop prefs, right?

I’ve tried built in System Restore – No difference

Pretty painless to reinstall XP with just the Repair
option. Proved painful as it asks for a password which I know nothing about?

Ser No compromise? I put the same code in?

Admin password…which is probably nothing if XP was loaded by computer manufacturer. Don’t put in anything, hit enter.
