I’m having a perplexing problems with Photoshop 7.0.1 Windows. When I convert a color photo to greyscale and then print a quadtone using say, Pantone 431, etc., the image seems fine. If I then change to a cool grey 10, save the file and print, I get the same Pantone print, not the cool grey. Closing and reloading Photoshop doesn’t solve the problem. What am I missing ?
In other cases, when I print I get a duotone that does not at all match what I’m seeing on the screen. E.g. – if the duotone is near sepia, let’s say, I will get a print that is very blue or even greenish. And vice versa – a cool gray tritone will print sepia. Can someone please explain to me what’s going on here ? What settings should I be using to get the correct range of tones in my duotones ? BTW, I’m printing with the Epson Stylus Photo 2200 here.
