This is something I’ve wondered about for a long time. When Bridge catalogues your images for display and then opening in Photoshop, does it change them in any way?
Thanks.

I don’t think so. But it does save changes about raws; like crop, white balance etc. It is also color aware so it will display changes made to the color profile. I think it would screw up everyone’s workflow if it went around changing things.

My understanding is that any changes are to the metadata only.

Thanks. It *did* seem unlikely, but the question’s been nagging at me.

Open a jpeg file as a raw file in bridge, do some changes, including crop. You will find that image has changed when viewed with Bridge or CS3, yet that same image when viewed with Irfanview will be unchanged. The difference is in the metatdata.
