I’m just starting to explore Camera Raw and I have a question. I notice that NikonView provides a lot more EXIF data than does Camera Raw. For instance, flash exposure compensation isn’t provided in Camera Raw but is in NikonView.

Is Camera Raw incapable of displaying as much header information as Nikon’s own Nikon View?

Thanks,
Robert A

I don’t know, but it isn’t capable of displaying as much header information as *Pentax’s* own software. Draw your own conclusions.

But what it doesn’t display is not important to me, so I use it anyway.

Camera Raw displays all documented metadata stored using the EXIF specification. The data you refer to is proprietary to Nikon and stored using proprietary means in the file not documented by Nikon hence Camera Raw cannot display it. The EXIF specification allows for such "MakerNote" containers to contain such data, but explicitly does not contain information about how to interpret the contents of those tags.
