How come every once in awhile when I try to save a file I get the message that the file is already open and can save. Says to close and rename file. Well heck, if I could save and close I wouldn’t care ’bout that message. At that point about the only way I can save is to do a save for web which it lets me.

First make sure that the file isn’t being used in another program, then if that doesnt seem to help, do a save as, and just change the file name. That should solve it

It’s an ongoing problem. Your file’s handle is locked. If you have this problem often, the tool "Process Explorer" by Sysinternals will help locate and unlock the handle.
