Problem: When my in house LAN is active (i.e., cables in place and/or hub active) PS 7.0 has just recently started to take a long time to load. No splash screen comes up. Just the Photoshop blank screen.
I can tell (via task monitor) that what is happening is that Photoshop is probing the LAN four, maybe five times. THEN (after about a 60-90 seconds) the flash screen appears and the PS finishes loading up in about 5-10 seconds on my fastest machine.
I cannot think of anything that I have done to change the LAN nor the Photoshop, except that I sometimes used the Photoshop browser tag dropdown to bring in working files from other computers on the LAN.
Systems:(1) Win XP on 3.8 GHz ADM machine
(2) Win 2000 on a 2.8 Pentium machine
(3) Win 98SE on a 2.4 Pentium machine.
Each system has its own PS 7.0 and the LAN is a simple CAT 5 cabled linkup via a D-link switch
I swear I had used this setup for months with absolutely no problem and very fast PS 7.0 load —- until just last week.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any suggestions? I cannot find anyway to force the PS 7.0 to not go on the LAN (Workgroups are disabled). Indeed, I cannot find any reason for it to be trying to get on the LAN.
Thanks for any suggestions or debug strategies.
