Photoshop will not startup – Loads then unloads

If I double click the icon, the hard drive seems to be loading stuff, but nothing appears on the screen. Not even an error message. It’s like it starts to load and then for whatever reason, unloads without telling me.

Any ideas as to why this is happening? Using Windows XP.
